Jeremy Johnson, MSMFT

Jeremy has a passion for assisting families who are struggling through life’s transitions. Jeremy specializes in working with parents, children, teenagers, and families as he coaches them through various challenges of life. Through his work at The Connection Place, he is committed to helping clients build a bridge of communication and experience the connection for which they were created. 

Over the last 23 years, Jeremy has invested in the lives of others through clinical counseling, pastoral ministry, and public speaking. He has partnered with a variety of organizations and ministries whose goals have been focused on assisting their client’s through normal life transitions, as well as times of struggle and crisis. 

Jeremy’s goal is to always offer quality therapy services that meets the specific needs of his client’s lives. Jeremy has completed extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and works largely from an attachment perspective.  He has also been trained in Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI) developed by Dr. Karen Purvis and Dr. David Cross of the Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University.  TBRI is an intervention model for a wide range of behavioral problems for adopted children, children in foster care, and children "from hard places." Jeremy is an Intermediate Theraplay Practitioner and uses Theraplay strategies in much of his work with children and their families.

Jeremy also serves at a faculty supervisor for the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program at Lipscomb University, and he is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
 Jeremy has a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. He is a member of the Tennessee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.  

Jeremy is married to Kelli Shannon, and they have three amazing children. The Johnson's are thankful to be adoptive parents and are active in various adoption organizations in Middle Tennessee. Jeremy is passionate about being a great husband and father, and he loves hunting, fishing, reading, sports, and traveling.
